Smarter Buildings, Faster: Why we've invested in Endra

Welcome to our 2024 Impact Report – a look at what our portfolio companies have done to move the needle. This year’s edition highlights the grit, progress and potential of impact startups in a world that feels anything but predictable. It’s a snapshot of where we are, what we’ve learned, and why we believe the case for impact has never been stronger.

Imagine trying to reinvent yourself with tools stuck in the ‘90s. That’s the reality for the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering world today: a $79 billion industry still reliant on slow, manual, and costly processes. It’s time for change. That’s why we’re proud to back Endra, the first AI-powered, end-to-end platform reinventing how buildings are designed from the ground up.

The Problem

Buildings are responsible for nearly 30% of global emissions. Every inefficiency in how we design them locks in energy waste for decades. MEP systems play a crucial role in the sustainability and functionality of buildings, but today’s methods can’t keep up with the demand for greener, smarter solutions.

Meanwhile, the construction industry is facing a critical shortage of skilled engineers. And with tightening regulations and the push for smart infrastructure, there’s a massive gap between what’s needed and what’s possible with today’s tools.

Buildings are responsible for nearly 30% of global emissions. And the transition is moving painfully slow.

The Solution

Endra is building the world’s first generative, end-to-end AI platform for MEP design. It automates time-intensive workflows – system layouts, documentation, code compliance – and turns projects that usually take months into a few hours.

Engineers remain fully in control of final design validation, while Endra handles the repetitive work, boosting productivity by over 70x.

Anton Juric, Co-Founder & COO of Endra: “In MEP design, a huge amount of time is still spent on repetitive, low-value tasks. Design & Build firms want to deploy AI to stay competitive, but they have very limited options. We’re enabling them to focus on what really matters, while our platform handles the rest. We’re measuring productivity increases in multiples, not percentages.”

The Funding

The €3 million pre-seed round – joined by prominent industry angels such as Maximilian Viessmann (Vito One), Johan Edenström (Newsec/Stronghold), and Simon De Château (Alma Property Partners), as well as the the Höglund brothers (Epidemic Sound), and Oljibe Invest – will power product development, platform and expansion of the team. This will lay the foundation for the company’s targeted expansion into the US, UK, and German markets over the next two years.

Niklas Lindgren, Co-Founder & CEO of Endra AI: “In the Endra ecosystem, general contractors and MEP consultants will be able to interface each other seamlessly, in a way never experienced before. Given the interest we have had our first 8 months, Endra is really being set up for solid hyper growth. ”

The founding team: Niklas Lindgren (CEO) and Anton Juric (COO) in the top row, and technical co-founders Gustav Hammarlund and David Rydberg in the bottom row.

The Team

The Endra team is one of those rare cases where everything lines up: serial entrepreneurs with extensive knowledge of the industry coupled with deep tech expertise that can stir up a big underdeveloped market.

  • Niklas Lindgren and Anton Juric – serial entrepreneurs with a track record of building and exiting companies focused on technical infrastructure and security.
  • Gustav Hammarlund and David Rydberg – deep tech specialists who previously built critical infrastructure for Goldman Sachs’ equity trading platforms across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Their combined expertise in complex engineering, enterprise systems, and scaling startups is exactly what’s needed to crack open a traditional, slow-moving industry in need of transformation.

By transforming MEP design into a faster, smarter, and greener process, they’re unlocking a huge opportunity for impact and innovation. We’re thrilled to partner with Niklas, Anton, Gustav, and David as they rewire the way buildings are designed, and drive a new era of sustainable construction.
